2 days.....

In the last 48 hours I have slept for 9 hours, driven for 4 1/2 hours, worked 30 hours, had 2 dinners, and 2 showers!!! I am tired!! And the worst part- I can't sleep! I did nap a little on the couch, but my mind is racing and I can't shut it off.

The great part of all this was I had a fabulous intern training session. I had 70 interns there and all the trainers. Kudos to all who helped out!

Another great thing I found out today is that I got a 100 on my research paper!!! The big 10 pager I completed right before Christmas!

Sunday... I love Sundays

Today was such a relaxing day. Aside from the 12 hours of sleep I got last night, I was able to catch up on some reading, do some work, email Interns, make home-made ham salad, watch a movie, and spend some quality time with Tommy. Oh yeah, and THE EAGLES WON!!! My cake must have been the definite difference (that or Westbrook is a great player)!

Tom is now sacked out next to me. Sleeping like a child. We're still looking for someone to doggy sit, but I have faith that we'll get someone.

I am looking forward to being in Florida for a few days. I need the warm air to dry my lungs out and get rid of this ick that I've had for weeks.

I will be super busy the next few days. I have a Region wide Intern Training Day on Tuesday with about 75 people. So, tomorrow is all about the preparation. Lots to do, but I am confident it will all be a success.

Good Night All!
Jerri

PS: Tomorrow begins the treadmill experiment!!

Eagles Cake in hope of a victory Sunday!

I made this to take to church on Sunday! I think Tommy liked it as well! Let's hope it brings good luck to the Eagles, since after all, his ECU Pirates did lose to UK yesterday!

Me and Tommy

UK 25 ECU 19

Well, University of Kentucky beat ECU in the Liberty Bowl!!!! Hooray! Go Cats. Tommy is still sulking (former ECU student) :(

Today was decent. We took down all the Christmas decorations in the entire house. That was progress! And... We got them all put in the attic and the house clean! What a huge relief. Why is it you feel better when the house is clean? It just gives me a sense of calm and contentment. Not that I am a slob otherwise, but just knowing that I am not waking up to dishes, laundry, etc. allows me to sleep easier! So, this means tomorrow I can work on my paper without regret, cause Tommy will be at work! :)
I am also excited because we are going to Florida on Thursday. Haley, Tom's niece, is getting married and we are going to go down for that. So, good things all around!
I guess that sums up my day. Have a great night!

Cheers,
Jerri

2009 - Healthy, Happy, and Loved

2009 - Well, it's here!

Looking forward to this new year which is only an hour and 45 minutes old, I have a great hope for it, as I do for every new year. Aside from the traditional "I want to lost 20 lbs" or "I want to save more money", I have a few things that I want to focus on as well.

1. I want to be healthy.
As a diagnosed diabetic now for almost 2 years, I finally get the fact that I need to really take care of my self. And not just in a " I'll switch to Diet Coke" kind of way. I need to maintain my health so I can be here to celebrate 2025 as it comes ringing in. From proper use of meds, to more healthful eating, and exercising - there is a lot involved. But, the way to success is through small changes every day. I want to make healthy choices on a daily basis. Specifically, I want to use the treadmill I received for my birthday 4-5 times a week. I want to put away all things white - sugar, flour, high fat dairy, butter - and choose instead those things that will put health and healing into my body. I want to celebrate my 40th wedding anniversary with my husband by my side, not by my bedside in a hospital. So, yeah, this is a big one!

2. I want to be happy.
I am generally a happy person. So, I am not looking to "get happy." I am looking to maintain the happiness that I have been blessed with in my life. Things that make me happy are :
  • My husband, Tom
  • My dog, Fraizer
  • My Job with CVS
  • My Church
  • Completing my degree

These are the things that I want to remain in a good place in my life. I should be finished with my degree in a year and a half. Which, I have to admit, is a lot sooner than I thought I'd complete it. I am attending school online with University of Phoenix, and it is GREAT! I love that I am back reading, studying, writing, and using my mind. I am a pretty smart person. Once I complete the BSM, I want to go straight into getting my Master's in Human Resources. Within 2 -3 years, I should be finished with this. It will mean so much to me personally and professionally to do this! Happiness for me, and more opportunities for my career! I can't think of anything better!

3. I want to give more love this year than I ever have.

I am a very loved person. From my husband to my family to my friends - I have to say, I am truly blessed in regards to this one! I want to focus on giving this love back to those who love me. With my life the way that it is, being so busy and all, it is super convenient for me to adopt a selfish mindset quickly. I want to make sure that I am not forgetting those around me when I am busy. I want to take time for my husband and be the wife that he deserves. I want to spend more time with Fraizer, making sure he gets all the doggie love and exercise that craves and needs. I want to be a good sister, aunt, and friend! But even just writing this, it seems like so much. So, I need to be able to seize opportunities in the moment. Make each day count.

I guess that is the point of this blog. To really capture and take notice of the little ways that my life ebbs and flows. Yes, these are lofty ideals that I have written here. But I think they are definintely doable.

So, as 2008 has drifted away, and 2009 is but a mere glimpse of hope, I have begun this blog to "suck the marrow out of life" and revel what is about to happen!
